Your mission can't stop. Neither can the people and systems behind it.
Non-profits serve people at their hardest moments, often with lean teams, donated dollars, and operations that stretch from city offices to remote, difficult places.
We help non-profit organizations build crisis management, business continuity, IT disaster recovery, and security programs that protect staff, volunteers, and the people they serve, keep the mission running through a disruption, and stay simple enough for a small team to own.
✅ Practitioner-led, not advisory
✅ Built for lean teams, not large bureaucracies
✅ Tested in real exercises, not just on paper
What we hear from non-profit leaders
We’ve worked with non-profits from small local organizations to national ones with hundreds of locations. We hear the same things from the people who own safety, security, and continuity:
“I don’t have enough time and hands.”
“We are only two people, me and my associate.”
“Our plan is pretty basic. It doesn’t have a business impact analysis.”
“I’d like to work with a company that can help me build this plan from scratch.”
“Unless you have a solid champion who’s really going to own it, it’s hard.”
Sound familiar? You don’t need another consultant to tell you what you already know. You need practitioners who will build what’s missing, right-sized for your team, and help you run it.
The non-profit reality
Non-profits carry the same risks as any other organization, with fewer people to manage them. A data breach, a reputational crisis, a violent incident, a technology outage, or a pandemic can hurt the people you serve, shake donor and volunteer trust, and stop your ability to deliver on the mission.
Many non-profits work far beyond their offices: in cities, suburbs, and rural areas, and in remote and sometimes dangerous places at the end of a long supply chain. Many also hold things no one else can replace, from donor records to collections held in trust.
Most non-profit programs aren’t absent. They’re thin: a basic plan, no business impact analysis, and a safety or security lead who also owns continuity on the side. FEMA’s continuity guidance applies the same framework it uses for government to private and nonprofit organizations, but nobody expects a two-person team to build a federal program.
The answer isn’t a stack of binders. It’s one program, with one crisis structure, one set of continuity plans, and one testing calendar, sized for the team you have.
How we help non-profit organizations
- Resiliency Diagnosis®. A standards-based evaluation of your continuity, crisis, and recovery capabilities, with a maturity score and a prioritized roadmap, in about 12 weeks.
- Business continuity and Business Continuity as a Service. BIAs, plans, governance, and exercises, built with you or run for you, so continuity doesn’t depend on one person’s spare time.
- Crisis management. A crisis framework, a plan, and scenario annexes your leadership team can actually use, plus emergency procedures for every office and remote worker.
- IT disaster recovery. DR policy, governance, and tested plans for the applications and cloud services your operations run on.
- Exercises. Tabletop exercises for your crisis team and executives, and self-run options like Exercise in a Box® when budgets are tight.
- Crisis communications. Messaging and communication plans for staff, volunteers, donors, the people you serve, and the media.
- Security and intelligence. Physical security assessments, travel risk, and safety and security programs for staff and volunteers, wherever they work.

Frequently asked questions
We're a small team. Is a business continuity program realistic for us?
Yes. We size the program to the team you have: the plans you need, the scenarios you’re most likely to face, and an exercise calendar you can sustain. Business Continuity as a Service can run it for you.
Where do we start?
With a Resiliency Diagnosis®. It shows what you already have, what’s missing, and what to fix first, then gives you a prioritized roadmap your board and executive director can act on.
Can you build a program from scratch?
Yes. One of the largest nonprofits in the United States built its first business continuity and crisis management program with us, then its IT disaster recovery program.
Do you work with organizations that operate internationally?
Yes. We help non-profits protect staff and volunteers who work in remote and high-risk locations, with security programs, travel risk, and crisis plans that reach the field.
What if we can't afford a facilitated exercise?
Start with Exercise in a Box®, a self-run kit with 15 scenarios, or Exercise in a Day®.
Do you work with non-profit hospitals and health systems?
Yes. Our non-profit work includes hospitals and integrated health systems, from security program design to crisis and continuity exercises.
