One of the largest nonprofits in the United States, faced with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic to its operations, retained Bryghtpath to build its first business continuity & crisis management program.
The non-profit, operating in all fifty states and Canada, recognized the need for a consistent approach to business continuity & crisis management amidst the COVID-19 global pandemic. While the organization had managed its initial response to the pandemic well, the process was an ad-hoc leadership effort.
Following a national search for a partner, Bryghtpath was engaged to evaluate the organization’s ad-hoc processes and develop a sustainable business continuity & crisis management program.
Approach and Results
Bryghtpath began the engagement by utilizing our proprietary Resiliency Diagnosis® process to review the organization’s current capabilities, identify critical processes across the organization, and develop an implementation roadmap.
Once the evaluation and proposed roadmap were reviewed with the organization’s executives, Bryghtpath began developing the program components.
Bryghtpath developed an emergency procedures guide for each office & for remote workers based on our Crisis Playbook® product. The guides addressed a wide range of potential life safety emergencies, such as active shooter situations, natural disasters, and severe weather events. Bryghtpath also provided thorough training to ensure that the organization could effectively utilize the procedures guide.
Crisis Management Framework & Plan
Bryghtpath developed a crisis management framework & plan, including the necessary templates, checklists, and other documents. Bryghtpath also conducted training for leaders and stakeholders and created five scenario-specific plan annexes. A tabletop exercise was held to help the organization build confidence in and familiarity with the new crisis management strategy.
Business Continuity Program
Bryghtpath designed and implemented a comprehensive business continuity program, including all the necessary policies, framework documents, standards, how-to guides, governance, and other lifecycle documentation. We executed the organization’s first business continuity lifecycle, including Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Business Continuity Planning, Training, and Exercises. It also collaborated with the organization’s IT team to align Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategies.
As a result of Bryghtpath’s expertise, the non-profit has significantly enhanced its crisis management and business continuity capabilities with a documented & sustainable program.
