Bryghtpath spearheaded a transformative engagement with one of the largest US non-profit organizations to improve its technology resiliency. Through our proprietary Resiliency Diagnosis® process, we rebuilt their IT Disaster Recovery (DR) program, anchoring their approach on the ISO 27031 standard.
The Opportunity
The non-profit, operating in all fifty states and Canada, recognized the need for an improved, programmatic approach to IT Disaster Recovery. The organization identified the need to align technology availability and recovery capabilities with contemporary business demands. Bryghtpath had previously built the non-profit’s business continuity and crisis management program and was approached by the organization for this engagement.
Approach and Results
Bryghtpath utilized its Resiliency Diagnosis® process to understand the organization’s IT availability and business needs, existing technology capabilities, and the current program’s strengths, weaknesses, and potential opportunities.
Bryghtpath conducted document reviews and technical meetings with the technology team and reviewed the organization’s business impact analysis (BIA) data. Examining key cloud vendor capabilities, including Amazon Web Services, Salesforce, and other SaaS providers, identified opportunities for improving availability and disaster recovery capabilities.
Following the analysis, Bryghtpath produced a comprehensive Resiliency Diagnosis® evaluation report presented to the organization’s leaders and key stakeholders in a series of presentations. The report contained observations, recommendations, and a detailed maturity review based on Bryghtpath’s proprietary ISO 27031 Maturity Model.
The evaluation findings were then used by Bryghtpath to rapidly mature the Disaster Recovery Program, initially by establishing a corporate policy and governance approach, then by developing a disaster recovery framework that established an incident management process, an approach to exercises and testing, and set programmatic requirements for the IT organization.
Bryghtpath then worked with technical teams to develop disaster recovery plans and execute DR tests for identified Tier I applications critical to the organization’s operations.
Bryghtpath’s work and the application of its proprietary Resiliency Diagnosis® process and ISO 27031 Maturity Model have provided the firm with an effective disaster recovery program that has improved their resilience and hardened their technology systems against future shocks.
